Revealed – How Inter Milan Owners Oaktree Capital Pushing To Build A New Stadium
Inter Milan owners Oaktree Capital are increasingly pushing to build a new stadium to replace the San Siro.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the owners are more committed to staying in the area than Suning were.
Inter and AC Milan have been pushing to build a new stadium for many years.
The aim for the two clubs would be to have a stadium which they own rather than just renting from the city.
In the last couple years, the potential direction of building outside of the city limits of Milan has emerged.
Inter have been looking into the commune of Rozzano as a potential location. Meanwhile, Milan have already bought land in the San Donato area.
Inter Owners Oaktree Increasingly Pushing To Build In San Siro Area
But according to the Gazzetta, Inter owners Oaktree see the San Siro area as the right path forward.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri could potentially purchase the land adjacent to the existing stadium.
The clubs may not be able to tear the iconic stadium down. But building next to it would be a possibility.
That would require an initial investment of €200 million just to buy the land.
However, Inter and Milan could bring their revenues from the stadium from €70-75 million per season to €130 million.
That would take the two clubs right in line with the earnings of European giants like Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
Inter owners Oaktree would aim for a project that could reach completion in 2030.
