Revealed – The Five Hurdles Inter Milan Must Overcome To Sign Serie A Breakout Star

Inter Milan will reportedly have to untie five knots if they wish to complete the signing of Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

The Nerazzurri have been zooming in on the Iceland international for quite some time now. The 27-year-old enjoyed a sensational campaign at Genoa which should earn him a big-money move towards a bigger club.

But while the Italian champions appear keen to sign the skillful striker, they will have several obstacles to overcome, explains Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews.

The first is Genoa’s price tag which is circa 35 million euros. The Nerazzurri would have to raise funds by selling one or more players, possibly sacrificing Valentin Carboni as the source explains.

The second hurdle is the packed attacking department. The management will have to make room for Gudmundsson’s arrival by sending away Joaquin Correa and possibly Marko Arnautovic. However, the Austrian veteran has reiterated his desire to stay at the club.

The third knot is the player’s sexual assault case in Iceland. While he was acquitted in the initial trial, the ruling has been appealed. In case of conviction, this would be a devastating blow to the striker’s career and to whichever club he represents.

The fourth obstacle is the competition Inter are facing from Italy and abroad. The likes of Napoli, Roma, Juventus are all keeping tabs on the Grifone star who also has suitors in the Premier League, especially Tottenham Hotspur.

Finally, the time factor could be key in this transfer saga. As reported yesterday, Gudmundsson is willing to wait for Inter to make an offer. But for just how long remains the question, especially with other suitors lurking.
