Revealed – Austria Veteran Favorite To Start In Inter Milan Vs Monaco UEFA Champions League Clash
Marcus Thuram could start tonight’s Champions League game between Inter and Monaco on the bench, with Marko Arnautovic tipped to get the nod.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Austrian veteran could make his first Nerazzurri start since December 19.
Indeed, Arnautovic has been on the fringes this season.
The 35-year-old has only amassed 95 minutes of action in Serie A.
However, he has collected two starts in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys.
Since then, it’s all been doom and gloom for the former Bologna star.
Marko Arnautovic to Start in Inter Milan vs Monaco Ahead of Marcus Thuram
Despite the high stakes, Simone Inzaghi could pair Arnautovic with Lautaro Martinez up front.
Arnautovic last started a game in a 2-0 Coppa Italia win against Udinese in December.
Though he scored in that match, Inzaghi continues to trust Mehdi Taremi, Thuram, and Martinez over him.
However, that could change tonight.
With Inter desperately needing three points to lock down a top-four finish, this could be an unnecessary risk.
Indeed, Arnautovic’s qualities are unquestionable.
Yet, he lacks competitive form after being left on the margins for so long.
