Reports: Milan left waiting by Rashford as Barcelona enter race – the situation

Multiple reports are claiming that Marcus Rashford has not yet decided on his future, with Barcelona now rivalling AC Milan for his signature.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports that yesterday could have been the decisive day in the negotiations between Milan and Rashford, whose agent was supposed to meet Manchester United and give a definitive answer to the Rossoneri.

Not only did this answer not arrive, but there was a slowdown in the deal due to the entry of Barcelona into the race. Despite their well-known financial problems, they met the entourage of the English forward, which ‘flattered’ him.

The Catalan side are determined to make room for him in the squad by offloading Ansu Fati. Thus, Rashford has ‘asked Milan for time’, avoiding making an immediate decision regarding his future, but the directors were hoping to hear back tomorrow.

If an answer does not arrive quickly, the Diavolo would turn straight to Kyle Walker given that they can only sign one English player. Precisely for this reason, the Manchester City defender – who has also been offered to Inter – is on stand-by at the moment .

If the choice were to fall on him in the end, Milan would have to get rid of a centre-back and the main candidate is Strahinja Pavlovic, who is struggling to get playing time even with the change in coach to Sergio Conceiçao.

Fikayo Tomori is another option to leave, given he has been in Juventus’ sights for some time and in the last few hours the rumours have started to heat up again. Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani were in Düsseldorf yesterday, and they are awaiting news.

According to Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Rashford ‘has not yet made a decision on his future’ and ‘there is no deadline’. He adds that there is ‘no economic agreement between Manchester United and Milan’ and that the two parties are ‘distant’.

Barcelona are in the running and are trying to free up space in the squad to move forward with the deal. In the background remain Juventus – who at the moment have other priorities – and other Premier League clubs.

Finally, Calciomercato.com report that United have not changed their minds despite recent interest from West Ham and Tottenham: they would prefer to sell Rashford abroad to avoid him being able to strengthen a direct rival.

This is why the agents have directly explored various opportunities including Dortmund, Milan and Barcelona. Rashford was immediately impressed by Milan’s pitch from Zlatan Ibrahimovic but his preference was Barcelona, so he must make a decision soon.
