Did fired Wake Forest announcer Tommy Elrod and Louisville offensive coordinator Lonnie Galloway meet the night before Wake played at Louisville? It appears that way.

CBS Sports obtained texts from Galloway’s phone via a Freedom of Information Act request. According to three texts published by the site, Galloway and Elrod sure look like they’re meeting up on Friday Nov. 11.

Elrod at 8:37 p.m.: “On way now.”

Galloway at 8:48 p.m.: “OK. Sitting by fire pit.”

Elrod at 8:59 p.m.: “Outside?”

Elrod was fired from his position as Wake Forest’s radio analyst after a school investigation found he had given parts of Wake Forest’s Louisville gameplan to Galloway before the game. The Demon Deacons became aware of the game plan “breach” when members of the team’s staff found their plays on the sidelines while setting up before the game.

After Wake Forest dismissed Elrod, Louisville said the former Wake Forest player had given Galloway information over the phone the week before the game. That’s corroborated by CBS’ FOIA request, which shows the two talked on the phone for nearly a half hour on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Galloway was eventually suspended for the Citrus Bowl in December after a review by the Louisville athletic department. His suspension came days after Louisville issued a statement saying that it didn’t benefit from any of the info it got about Wake Forest and that the “issue has brought undue attention to our football staff as we prepare for our upcoming bowl game.”

Louisville didn’t benefit from Wake Forest’s inside info because the Demon Deacons said they didn’t run any of the plays it installed from the game after it realized Louisville probably knew.

Wake’s investigation also found that Elrod had shared information with Virginia Tech and Army and the ACC fined the Hokies and Louisville $25,000.
