A defensive end at FCS Tennessee Tech was reportedly one of 10 arrested in a Tennessee sting of men soliciting sex from teenage girls.

According to Al.com, Matthew Kenty is a redshirt freshman DE for the Golden Eagles. Kenty redshirted in 2017 and played for a high school in Birmingham that won the 2016 6A state championship.

Kenty, 18, is charged with a class B felony of patronizing a prostitute.

Per the Tennessee Bureau of investigations, the suspects allegedly responded to ads for “women seeking men” on backpage.com. Female agents for the TBI then told the suspects they were girls between the age of 14 and 17 years old and the ten men then met with the agents after setting up a time and place to meet.

The TBI said nearly 700 different phone numbers had responded to ads online set up for the sting.

In the course of the three-day operation, men using 697 unique phone numbers responded to the ads that were posted online, seeking to purchase illicit sex. The total number of contacts, such as text messages and calls, was 5,211. Some of the conversations between these men and undercover Agents continued after they learned they were chatting with someone they believed to be a minor. During the operation, Agents and Intelligence Analysts also gathered information in an effort to identify and recover potential victims of human trafficking.
