According to Kaplan, the other three teams in the mix for Trouba are the Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
Among the teams I’ve heard have talked to the NYR about Jacob Trouba include Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo, Columbus.
We’ll see what happens today, but Trouba has known for some time this was a strong possibility. Crazy to see it go down this way.— Emily Kaplan (@emilymkaplan) December 6, 2024
The Sabres have been connected to Trouba in the past, and it is clear that they could use an upgrade on the right side of their defense. They also have the cap space to handle Trouba's $8 million cap hit.
Trouba has a 15-team no-trade list, so he has a say about where he will end up. However, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers will waive Trouba if he does not accept a trade.
Trouba, 30, has appeared in 24 games this season, where he has six assists, 39 hits, and a minus-3 rating.
