Report: Russell Allen suffered stroke during late-season game

It was quite a surprise when the Jaguars released linebacker Russell Allen.

He'd spent five years playing football in the NFL and hadn't performed poorly to where he no longer belonged in the league. But he was released with the failed designation tag.

And now everyone knows why: According to a story from TheMMQB.com, Allen suffered a stroke on the field during a Week 15 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Allen collided heads during the game but never lost unconscious, though he stated in the article that something seemed off. On Monday, still feeling a headache, he informed team doctors. He was later diagnosed as to having a stroke after undergoing an MRI.

To think, Allen finished the game after having a stroke on the field. There's some amazement to that, knowing Allen battled through it, though he had no way of knowing what had happened in the moment.

But now his career is over and he'll no longer be able to play the game anymore. It can't be an easy feeling for someone like Allen, once an undrafted free agent, to come to terms with.
