Report: Raptors to sign G-League Ignite forward Donta Hall to 10-day contract

The Toronto Raptors have signed forward Donta Hall to a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Hall has played for the G-League’s elite Ignite team during the 2020-21 campaign, averaging 8.9 points, 9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

The 23-year-old spent most of the 2019-20 season playing for the Grand Rapids Drive, the G-League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons. With Grand Rapids, he posted 15.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He was named to the All-G-League second team and earned All-Rookie first team honors.

The move comes just a day after Raptors head coach Nick Nurse indicated his club could use more depth, following a gruelling west coast trip that saw Toronto play four games in six days.

"You used to say 'Oh you've got a back-to-back here in a couple weeks,' and now you've got one every week, so that thought can go past your head," Nurse said Wednesday. "In all seriousness though, there's got to probably be a look at — I haven't done it yet — but thinking about managing that. I think that maybe getting more guys on the floor in certain situations and maybe using a deeper roster in some fashion or other. I'm kicking those ideas around in my head, or I'll start to. I'll probably leave that for a few days."

Hall has appeared in nine NBA games, playing in four contests with the Pistons and five with the Brooklyn Nets. Across his nine games in the NBA, the former Alabama Crimson Tide has averaged 14.8 minutes, 4.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game.
