REPORT: Oilers' Zach Hyman Is Buying A Hockey Team

EDMONTON -- The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

Zach Hyman is a popular teammate in the Edmonton Oilers locker room. His honesty and positivity are a bright light for everyone he interacts with.

The 32-year-old winger can add "owner of a hockey team" to his impressive resume, which includes children's book author and 50-goal scorer in the NHL.

As reported by CHCH News, the Brantford Bulldogs have been sold to Hyman and his family. Apple, meet tree.

Zach's father, Stuart, famously purchased many hockey teams where Zach and his brother played junior hockey. However, Zach was the only one to make it all the way to the NHL.

Michael Andlauer currently owns the Bulldogs, who play in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). A few Oilers prospects, such as Sam O'Reilly and William Nichol, currently play. The Bulldogs are currently owned by Michael Andlauer.

According to CHCH News, an official announcement is expected to occur next week. Darren Dreger reports that the sale of the franchise is pending the approval of the OHL Board.

Many hockey fans will recognize Andlauer's name. He and his group of investors currently own the Ottawa Senators.

Hyman has written several children's books, including The Bambino and Me, Hockey Hero, and The Magician's Secret. All three books were published under Penguin Random House.

Zach has played 616 NHL games, split between the Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is coming off a 54-goal season and currently has 24 points in 36 games this year.

This apple has gone back to it's roots.
