Report: Nick Diaz to return to UFC in March after 4-year absence
Nick Diaz is slated to make his first appearance in The Octagon in four years at UFC 235 in March, ESPN reports.
The fight in Las Vegas will come against Jorge Masvidal (32-13) in a welterweight contest.
Diaz hasn’t fought since vacated facing Silva in 2015
Diaz (26-9) hasn’t fought since a 2015 decision loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 183 that was vacated when both fighters failed post-fight drug tests.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission handed Diaz an 18-month suspension for marijuana metabolites in his system. Repeated doping troubles led him to be suspended until April of this year after he reached an agreement with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Diaz hasn’t won since 2011
The former Strikeforce champion previously lost to Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit in UFC competition and has not won a fight since 2011.
Diaz was arrested on domestic abuse charges in Las Vegas in May, charged with felony domestic battery by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic battery. Those charges were dismissed in August.
