Ole Miss has reportedly made a personnel move regarding an assistant athletic director.

According to Rivals’ Rebel Grove, assistant athletic director Barney Farrar has been placed on administrative leave. Per the Oxford Eagle, Farrar has been been a “key figure” in the NCAA’s probe of the school.

The school told the Eagle it would not provide a comment on Farrar’s status. Ole Miss is 5-5 after beating Texas A&M on Saturday. Farrar is officially the assistant athletic director for high schools and junior college relations. Rebel Grove said Farrar didn’t travel to the A&M game and is not expected to be at Vanderbilt on Saturday.

The investigation into the school has continued after text messages were made public between former Ole Miss OL Laremy Tunsil and another member of the athletic department. The texts included references to money for Tunsil’s bills and Farrar is referenced by his first name in them.

The texts were from the spring of 2015. Yahoo Sports reported in August that the NCAA’s investigation had gone beyond Tunsil and players at other SEC schools who were recruited by Ole Miss were interviewed as part of the investigation.

Tunsil missed the first half of the 2015 season because of a suspension relating to impermissible benefits from an agent. He was selected in the first round of the NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins.

In May, the school said it had imposed a scholarship reduction and fine to the football team. It remains to be seen if the NCAA finds more violations occurred than it did in its January Notice of Allegations and the process will undoubtedly drag on into next year, if not longer.
