Report: Hurricanes To Bring Forward Sam Gagner To Training Camp On A PTO
With NHL training camps preparing to kick in off in about one weeks time, it appears as though the Carolina Hurricanes will have Sam Gagner in the fold when camp kicks off.
According to our friends at PuckPedia, the Hurricanes will be signing Gagner to a PTO.
Gagner, 35, will look to turn his PTO into a one-year contract as the veteran looks to return to the NHL for what would be his 18th season.

Last season Gagner split time between the Edmonton Oilers and their AHL affiliate the Bakersfield Condors.
In Gagners’ 28 games at the NHL level with the Oilers, Gagner scored 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points.
While Gagner only played in 28 games last season and 48 games with the Winnipeg Jets in 2022-2023, he is just three seasons removed from playing in 81 games with the Detroit Red Wings during the 21-22 season when he scored 13 goals and 31 points. Gagners’ 31 points during that season were his highest point total since the 2016-2017 when he scored 50 points for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In 17 seasons over his NHL career, Gagner has totaled 1,043 games between the Edmonton Oilers, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings and the Winnipeg Jets, scoring 197 goals, 332 assists and 529 points.
Gagner is most notably known for his 8 point night back on February 12, 2012. While as a member of the Edmonton Oilers, Gagner recorded 4 goals and 4 assists against the Chicago Blackhawks.
