The son of former Texas A&M and Miami Dolphins linebacker Antonio Armstrong is reportedly charged with shooting his parents Friday morning.

According to KTRK in Houston, the couple’s 16-year-old allegedly wounded his father and killed his mother, Dawn Armstrong, at their Houston-area home. The station is not naming the son because of his status as a minor.

Per KTRK, “Dawn was found dead at the scene in the couple’s bedroom. Antonio Armstrong was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he’s listed in critical condition.”

Antonio Armstrong, 42, played for Texas A&M from 1991-1994 and played four games in the 1995 season with the Miami Dolphins after he was selected in the third round of the 1995 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He later played in the CFL from 1998-2001.

According to Texas A&M’s All-American page, Armstrong was named an AP All-American in 1994 when he had 62 tackles and 17 tackles for loss. The 1994 Aggies finished the season 10-0-1 and won the Southwest Conference. The team’s tie came against SMU in October. Remember, college football didn’t have overtime until 1996.

The KTRK report said the family owns a gym in the Houston area.
