REPORT: Flyers Goaltender In Contention To Join Sweden For 4 Nations Face Off

According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Sam Ersson will be called up to join Team Sweden's roster for the 4-Nations Face-Off in February if one of their two currently-injured goaltenders are unable to play.

Currently, the official Sweden roster lists Filip Gustavsson (Minnesota Wild), Jacob Markstrom (New Jersey Devils), and Linus Ullmark (Ottawa Senators) as their goalies for the tournament.

However, Ullmark has been struggling with a back injury with no official timeline of when he'll be available to play again, while Markstrom is dealing with a sprained knee.

From the Inquirer's report, a source from Team Sweden confirmed that should either Ullmark or Markstrom not be healthy in time for 4-Nations, Ersson will be the first player they'll call upon.

The 25-year-old goalie has been enjoying the responsibilities of being the Flyers' No. 1 goaltending option since last season, and although he's dealt with some injury knocks of his own earlier in the year, he's put in one strong performance after another, helping to keep the Flyers competitive in games with his signature poise, composure, and positional awareness.

Across 26 games played so far this season, Ersson has 14 wins, including two shutouts, with a .891 SV% and 2.80 GAA.
