Report: Edmonton Eskimos drop Terrell Owens from negotiation list
Despite his desire to join the CFL’s Eskimos, Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens will not be suiting up for the green and gold.
In June, Edmonton added the former NFL star to its negotiation list, which gave the team exclusive rights to sign the six-time All-Pro. Owens then activated his 10-day clause with the Eskimos on July 14th, but the club has now dropped the star from the list, according to Farhan Lalji of TSN.
Now that Edmonton no longer has exclusive rights to T.O., any team in the league is available to discuss a possible contract with him. His agent, Jason Staroszik, told ESPN that if he cannot make an NFL comeback then “the CFL is the next-best option.”
Owens demonstrated the type of physical shape he is in with a recently posted Instagram video. The 44-year old ran through a 40-yard dash in just 4.40 seconds.

The decision to drop Owens by the Eskimos could be reflective of Edmonton’s wealth of receiving options. The team currently features three of the league’s top-six receiving yard leaders.
The question of whether or not Owens can still be a productive player at his age looms large. The last time Owens played a professional game was in 2010 with the Cincinnati Bengals.
