Report: Devils Latest Team To Show Interest In Canucks' Miller
On Friday, more trade rumours surrounding Vancouver Canucks center J.T. Miller emerged. According to Rick Dhaliwal of "Donnie and Dhali," many teams have checked in on Miller, including the New Jersey Devils. Dhaliwal also mentioned that the New York Rangers are still heavily interested, and if they aren't the team that acquires Miller, they prefer he stay away from their division rival.

A trade with the Devils makes a lot of sense, as New Jersey has some intriguing pieces that Canucks should be interested in. The biggest name that could be available is right-shot defenceman Simon Nemec, who, in a recent interview with Denník Šport, voiced his frustration in regards to not being called by the Devils. The 2022 second-overall pick has played just nine games in the NHL this season after suiting up for 60 during the 2023-24 season.
As reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Vancouver is also looking for a center in any Miller trade. If the Canucks were to make a deal with New Jersey, one name to watch would be Dawson Mercer. The 23-year-old right-shot center has been linked to Vancouver in the past and carries a cap hit of $4 million until the end of the 2026-27 season. This season, Mercer has 21 points in 47 games while averaging 17:49 of ice time.

It is no secret that Miller is currently struggling. He has two goals in his last 18 games and has played under 15 minutes in each of the Canucks previous three matches. Ultimately, it is clear that something is going on with Miller, as he does not look like the same player who dominated for Vancouver last season.
While the Canucks have reportedly not asked Miller to waive his no-movement clause yet, it is clear that teams around the league are interested in his services. In the end, Miller does have full control of which team he plays, which adds another level of complexity to the situation. With less than two months until the trade deadline, GM Patrik Allvin will need to make his mind up quickly regarding whether Vancouver intends to keep Miller or if the best option is to part ways with the 31-year-old.
