The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed RFA defenseman Zach Werenski to a 3-year, $15-million contract the club announced Monday.

"Zach Werenski is one of the best young defensemen in the National Hockey League and we couldn't be happier that he will continue to be a foundational player for the Columbus Blue Jackets," said General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen. "He is a gifted offensive player that has continued to improve in all facets of the game and will be an elite player for many years."

The 22-year-old NHL-All Star has tallied 38 goals and 128 points throughout his first three seasons in the league. Werenski was selected 8th overall by Columbus in the 2015 NHL Draft and finished third in voting for the Calder Trophy while being named to the NHL All-Rookie Team.

Werenski is the club’s last remaining RFA to secure this offseason, and Columbus will have just over $10-million in projected cap space remaining.
