Report: Ben Johnson 'deeply considering' Bears head coach job
Ben Johnson to the Chicago Bears could be picking up steam. According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, Johnson is said to be "deeply considering" the Bears' head coaching job on Monday.
Johnson is now free to start interviewing with teams after the Detroit Lions fell to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs, and the offensive coordinator is near the top of multiple teams' lists.

The Bears and Johnson have had mutual interest for quite some time, especially after the firing of Matt Eberflus took place in late November. The Lions offensive coordinator has been the hot name in each of the last two coaching cycles and seems destined to take one of the open jobs this time around. The Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars are all very high on the 38-year-old coach, but talk has intensified over the last week that the Raiders might be his ultimate destination.
That talk seems to have cooled off, however, and it's possible Johnson winds up in Chicago when it's all said and done. The Bears interviewed Johnson virtually on January 11th and are expected to give him a second interview this week, though no official announcement has come out yet.
It appears things are moving quickly, and it's possible the Bears hire a new coach within the week. Whether that's Johnson or another candidate like former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy remains to be seen.
