Report: Bears' Khalil Mack to undergo season-ending foot surgery

Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack will undergo season-ending foot surgery, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported. The Bears will place him on injured reserve.

Mack, 30, first appeared on the injury report in Week 4, but played through it. His last game was a 38-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7. Until this season, the only games he missed as a pro were two in 2018.

The hope was he would return after the team's Week 10 bye, which is why he reportedly was not put on injured reserve earlier in the season. Players on IR must sit a minimum of three games.

Not many updates were given about his status. Mack's season ends with six sacks, six tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits and a fumble recovery.

The Bears made a blockbuster deal with the Oakland Raiders to acquire the former No. 1 overall pick in 2018 and immediately signed him to a then-record six-year, $141 million extension. There is a potential out in the deal after this season, per Spotrac. He's a three-time All-Pro and made the Pro Bowl in all but his rookie season.

The defense will turn to Robert Quinn and veteran Bruce Irvin, who the Bears signed on Thursday. Linebacker Danny Trevathan was also put back on injured reserve on Friday.

Chicago (3-6) is on a four-game losing skid heading into a Week 11 matchup at home against the Baltimore Ravens (6-3). The Bears are -5.5 at Bet MGM.
