Report: Barcelona sent scouts to watch €75 million-rated Premier League forward

Barcelona’s interest in Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak is growing stronger, according to a recent report from Fichajes.

The outlet mentions that the club has already taken steps to monitor his performances more closely by sending scouts to watch him play during Newcastle’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.

This move is a clear indication that Barcelona see Isak as a potential target, especially as they search for a short-term solution to succeed Robert Lewandowski.

Hansi Flick is a supporter but there’s competition

It has been suggested that Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, believes that the Swedish striker could be an ideal fit for the team. He thinks that Isak’s versatility in the box and natural goalscoring ability are qualities that would complement Barcelona’s style of play.

Since joining Newcastle United in 2022, Isak has proven his worth, despite dealing with some injury setbacks. This season, his performances have been impressive, contributing five goals and two assists in 11 appearances.

His consistent form has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea. Arsenal, for that matter, looking to strengthen their attack for the future, have shown interest, particularly in light of Gabriel Jesus’ struggles with consistency.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are also keen on Isak, especially after missing out on Victor Osimhen. However, Barcelona appears to be ahead of the competition, having already started to track his performances in key Premier League matches.

While Barcelona’s primary target remains Erling Haaland, the team knows the high cost associated with signing a player like him, which makes Isak a more affordable and viable alternative.

While Newcastle are unlikely to let go of their star striker easily, Barcelona are determined to secure his services. With the club’s interest growing, they will need to act swiftly to outmanoeuvre other top European clubs that are also eyeing Isak.
