The addition of Kylian Mbappe is set to have a significant impact on Real Madrid, especially from a tactical standpoint.

The Frenchman was roped in to add more firepower to the Real Madrid attack, which has already dominated Europe in the past couple of years.

With Real Madrid boasting a star-studded lineup even before Mbappe’s arrival, one would expect the French international to be deployed in a central role – acting as the direct replacement for Karim Benzema.

Ancelotti’s plan to accommodate Mbappe

A recent report from Mario Cortegana has offered a detailed report on Ancelotti’s tactical plans for the season ahead, particularly when it comes to accommodating Mbappe in the squad.

It appears Ancelotti is planning to operate with a dynamic 4-3-3 formation, which can turn into a 4-4-2 during a defensive stance.

The new formation should see Mbappe leading the Real Madrid frontline, with support from Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo on the flanks.

The midfield, meanwhile, could comprise Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, with the latter operating in a defensive role.

During a defensive stance, Vinicius will join hands with Mbappe to form a two-pronged attack, which will primarily act as the first line of press.

The second line of press will be led by Valverde and Tchouameni in central positions, while Bellingham will shift out wide on the left flank with Rodrygo on the right.

Safe to say, the versatility of Tchouameni, Valverde and Bellingham would go a long way in making Real Madrid a lot more flexible.

Flexibility, in fact, will be a key theme in Ancelotti’s new system as they look to incorporate Mbappe into his tactical setup.

The addition of the Frenchman could, however, eat into the minutes of certain young players such as Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz and others.
