Rennes are set to sign Celtic FC striker Kyogo Furuhashi (30), according to a report this Wednesday from Le Parisien. The Ligue 1 team have monitored the Japan international for weeks as they aim to bolster Jorge Sampaoli’s attacking options. Rennes and the Scottish Premiership giants have reportedly reached an agreement worth €12m for Furuhashi’s transfer. Furuhashi has logged 12 goals and four assists in 32 games played this season with the Bhoys. The 29-year-old striker is tied with the Premiership giants with a contract set to expire in 2027.

The outlet understands that Furuhashi played his final game for Celtic this Wednesday during the Glasgow-based outfit’s 1-0 Champions League tie against Young Boys. The Japan international would be Rennes’ third signing of the winter transfer window after France goalkeeper Brice Samba and Ivory Coast international midfielder Seko Fofana.

Rennes were scouring the market for a striker to rival France U21 international Arnaud Kalimuendo with Sampaoli’s options depleting. Algeria international Amine Gouiri (24) is the shadow of the player he once was. Henrik Meister (21) has been loaned out to Serie B side Pisa SC while former Celtic cult hero Jota (25) is shown the exit door.
