Rennes interested in signing Alexander Djiku from Fenerbahçe

According to Foot Mercato, Rennes are interested in signing Alexander Djiku (30) from Fenerbahçe before the close of the winter transfer window on Friday. As Jorge Sampaoli looks to bolster his defensive option, an offer could soon arrive from the Breton club.

The Ghanaian international is viewed as an ideal target by Les Rouges et Noir as they search for an experienced figure at the back. Djiku is no stranger to playing in the French top flight have previously played for Strasbourg and Caen. Fenerbahçe are open to the potential departure of the former Strasbourg centre-back.

Search for a defender

In the search for defensive reinforcements, Djiku is not the first centre-back that Rennes have approached during the January transfer window. The Ligue 1 side have also attempted to bring Kevin Danso to the club from Lens. However, they have seen their approaches rebuffed for the Austrian international thus far.
