Renato Moicano was heartbroken after UFC 311.

Moicano (20-6-1 MMA, 12-6 UFC) was quickly submitted by UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in Saturday's main event. He stepped in on 24 hour' notice to replace Arman Tsarukyan after initially being scheduled to face Beneil Dariush on the same event.

Although Moicano was a massive underdog, becoming champion is something the Brazilian has always dreamt of.

"That wasn't a one day notice, that was a life notice," Moicano told Joe Rogan after UFC 311. "I'm very sad. I spent my whole life for this moment, and I tapped in the first round. Islam was much better than I today. I had so much to say, but that's not the right time. I'm not done. I don't know if I will ever get a chance like that again, but I will try my best to do it."

Moicano later shared the message that he had planned on the microphone.
