Reilly Smith Scores His First Goal As A Ranger

Reilly Smith can rest easy now as he scored his first goal with the New York Rangers in their game against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Rangers traded for Smith mostly because of his goal scoring abilities, but through the first two games, he failed to find the back of the net.

That all changed on Monday night when Smith ripped the puck top shelf immediately after the face-off to put the Rangers up 3-1.

The Rangers acquired Smith from the Pittsburgh Penguins this summer in what was the team’s biggest move of the offseason.

The 33-year-old forward has been playing on a line alongside Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad while also serving a role on the second power play unit.

This should be a confidence booster for Smith going forward.
