Here’s our Liverpool FC transfer recap for Thursday, 4th July. The Reds have a shot at Anthony Gordon, while Arne Slot wants a former player of his.

Liverpool haven't signed anyone yet - as you'll have likely noticed. They also haven't sold anyone. Things are about as slow as they can be, but appointing a new manager and a new sporting director during the summer of two major international tournaments will slow things down.

Still, there are transfer rumours, updates and news - here's what we've got.

Liverpool not in Calafiori race

Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool are not in talks for Riccardo Calafiori - but two big six rivals are. The Italian caught the eye in Serie A last season and at Euro 2024.

Fabrizio Romano claims two Premier League sides are in talks for Riccardo Calafiori but Liverpool are not one of them. That's despite links between the Reds and the Italian in recent weeks.

Arsenal and Chelsea are looking to get there first, however. They're both discussing a move for the defender, with the Gunners having presented a long-term proposal to Calafiori.

Reds 'absolutely' have Gordon chance

Liverpool could still ‘absolutely’ sign a new winger this summer, says Fabrizio Romano. That’s despite some crazy demands.

Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool could still sign Anthony Gordon this summer. The Reds were in talks with Newcastle United in June, with the Magpies looking to sell players before July 1st in order to meet Premier League spending rules.

Nothing came of it, however - reportedly because Liverpool wouldn't include Jarell Quansah in a deal. Now that the PSR deadline has passed, a deal seems a lot less likely.

Slot wants Wieffer

Arne Slot is reportedly making a ‘frantic’ attempt to sign one of his former Feyenoord players for Liverpool. But he might be too late.

De Telegraaf reports that Arne Slot wants to sign Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord this month. However, his attempts to do so have become 'frantic' in light of Brighton securing a verbal agreement over a transfer.

The Seagulls have a £25m offer on the table, with 'large' bonuses taking that higher. That's an agreement with Feyenoord if it isn't clear - Brighton are nearing a transfer here.

Murillo open to move

Nottingham Forest star Murillo has been linked with a transfer to Liverpool.

Liverpool transfer target Murillo has admitted that a move to Anfield would be a ‘good opportunity’ amid reports that he could leave Nottingham Forest this summer. 

Murillo, 22, was named Forest’s player of the season following a stellar campaign at centre back following his £11 million move from Corinthians in 2023.

The defender signed a five-year deal at the City Ground, tying him to Forest until 2028, but there has been speculation that he could move on this summer.

Offer for Koopmeiners hasn't arrived

Atalanta's Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool.

An expected offer from Liverpool has not arrived and they’re now set to miss out on a 26-year-old midfielder. Teun Koopmeiners is off elsewhere.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are increasingly confident of signing Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta. They've been linked with the Dutchman all year long, but were thought to be at a disadvantage.

That's because Juventus don't have much to spend. They can't meet Atalanta's ideal price for Koopmeiners, but the Bergamo club have agreed to let him go.
