Red Wings Star Surging Towards History
History in the making.
The Detroit Red Wings have had one consistent player this season. This player has always found a way to produce, no matter who is coaching the team.
He's still young but will represent Sweden at the Four Nations Faceoff. His name is Lucas Raymond.
Raymond has been an excellent Red Wings player since joining the NHL full-time. Now in his fourth full season, his progression has been tremendous.
He averaged 0.7 and 0.61 points per game in his first two seasons. Last year, he announced he would be taken seriously by collecting 72 points in 82 games.
This year, he's on another level and quickly entering the star tier. With 51 points in 47 games, he's on pace to finish the year with 89 points.
Raymond is also on the cusp of making (more) Red Wings history.

He currently has 19 goals. If he records another one tonight, he will join Steve Yzerman and Marcel Dionne as the third player in team history to record at least three 20-goal seasons by the time he is 22. That's very impressive company to keep.
In 47 games this year, he's only been held pointless 13 times. This is a statement to the consistency of his production this season. Even when other players struggled at the beginning of the season, Raymond didn't.

There's a really good chance that Raymond etches his name alongside Yzerman and Dionne. Even if he doesn't do that tonight, there's a good chance he records at least an assist.
History in the making, indeed.
