Red Wings Prospect Out For Season

Developing a prospect is difficult.

First, a team needs to research and select the right player according to the qualifiers they decide to use. Then, they need to put together a plan for that player to become the best they can be.

So far, the Detroit Red Wings have had great success with this regarding Moritz Seider, Simon Edvinsson, and Lucas Raymond.

However, working on your game is difficult when you are injured. Unfortunately for one Red Wings prospect, he won't be able to work on things for a long time.

Red (Redmond) Savage will miss some time for Michigan State University (MSU) of the NCAA. Earlier today, MSU head coach Adam Nightingale announced that Savage would be out for the remainder of the season.

Savage was the team's captain this season, so losing his leadership will be a big blow to this group.

Last season, he scored 27 points in 38 games. He will end this season with 11 points in 20 games. Savage has been injured for the last three games.

Savage was the 18th selection of the fourth round in the 2021 NHL entry draft.

The Red Wings must decide on this player before the beginning of next season. According to PuckPedia, they have until August 15th of this year to sign him to a contract.

This injury is bad luck for the player and the organization. The Red Wings wanted as much time as possible to assess Savage's progression, while the player (obviously) wanted to play as many games as possible.

Now, Red Wings fans have a few extra months to see what the future holds for Savage.
