Red Wings' Patrick Kane Keeps Making History

Some players are just born great.

Others become great because they have pushed themselves to be great, and now it looks effortless. Certainly, it's a mix of the two for Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane.

Last night, the Red Wings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-4. Kane scored the game-winning goal.

It turns out he's very used to doing that.

With his game-winning goal last night, Kane now ranks fourth all-time among US-born players in game-winning goals. His 78 game-winning tallies place him behind Mike Modano (92), Jeremy Roenick (92), and Zach Parise (83).

Last night, Kane also assisted on Alex DeBrincat's 13th goal of the year. He recorded one goal, one assist, and three shots in 12:48 of work.

The veteran forward is slowly getting up to the production levels that hockey fans are used to seeing from the superstar. He has 13 points in 26 games this season while averaging 17:12 of ice time per game.

Last year, he proved that he had more gas in the tank, hitting nearly a point per game pace. He finished the season with 47 points in 50 games, recording at least 20 goals for the 16th time in his career.

Kane appears to have developed good chemistry on a line with Andrew Copp and DeBrincat. Perhaps that is the key to him hitting the 20-goal milestone again this season.

With 1297 career points in the bag, he has greatness secured in hockey history. Look for Kane to achieve another milestone very soon.
