'Recruitment key' if Gray is to succeed - Collins

Former Hibs player and manager John Collins says the club have to get this summer's recruitment right if David Gray is to succeed as head coach.

Gray finished last season in caretaker charge following Nick Montgomery's sacking, before being handed the role on a permanent basis.

"I like young coaches getting opportunities; I hope he does well," Collins said.

"Malky Mackay has come in as director of football - does he want an experienced manager in front of him? He wants a younger manager.

"He’ll have to get off to a good start. The fans will back him because he’s a club legend.

"The key thing for Hibs now is the recruitment. I’m interested to see how he sets up, but the key is signing better players than they have got."
