Recapping The Frozen Confines At Wrigley Field
The Chicago Cubs and the Big Ten Conference partnered for The Frozen Confines: a Big Ten Hockey Series at Wrigley Field, the site of the 2025 NHL Winter Classic.
With two days of doubleheaders, Wrigley Field hosts three Big Ten men's hockey games and one WCHA women's game.
Here's a recap of the action.
Ohio State 4, Michigan 3
The Wolverines jumped out to a two-goal lead. Michael Hage potted his 10th goal of the season late in the opening frame, and T.J. Hughes scored on the power play early in the second period.
The Buckeyes clawed back to knot the scoreline at 2-2 after 40 minutes, courtesy of goals from Sam Deckhut and Noah Powell.
Michigan retook the lead at 9:15 of the third period when Will Horcoff scored his first collegiate goal. Ohio State's Riley Thompson netted two power play goals in the final period to lift the Buckeyes over the Wolverines.

Kristoffer Eberly stopped 31 of 34 shots in goal for Ohio State in the win. Michigan's Cameron Korpi stopped 30 of 34 in the loss.
Notre Dame 3 (2), Penn State 3 (1)
Grant Silianoff opened the scoring for the Fighting Irish at 7:29 of the first period. The Nittany Lions responded at 8:25 courtesy of a Tyler Paquette tally, but Notre Dame took a one-goal lead into the first intermission after Justin Janicke found the back of the net.
At 19:28 of the middle frame, Matt DiMarsico equalized for Penn State. Both sides added another tally in the third period. Aiden Fink scored for Nittany Lions and Carter Slaggert scored for the Fighting Irish.
After a scoreless overtime period, Notre Dame won the shootout in eight rounds by a score of 2-1. Ryan Helliwell scored the winning shootout goal.

Ohio State 3 (1), Wisconsin 3 (0)
The top two women's college hockey teams in the country battled it out on Saturday. Jordyn Petrie opened the scoring for the Buckeyes 49 seconds into the game, but the Badgers took a one-goal lead into the first intermission thanks to goals from Caroline Harvey and Kirsten Simms.
Makenna Webster knotted the scoreline at 2-2 in the second period. The game was tied heading into the final 20 minutes of regulation. Ohio State's Joy Dunne and Wisconsin's Kelly Gorbatenko each scored in the third, but the game was tied after 60 minutes.
After a scoreless overtime, Jenna Buglioni netted the only goal in the shootout to lift the Buckeyes to victory.

Ohio State's Amanda Thiele stopped 31 of 34 shots in the win, and Wisconsin's Ava McNaughton saved 36 shots in the loss.
Michigan State 4, Wisconsin 3 (OT)
Vladislav Lukashevich scored the lone goal of the first period at 4:24, giving the Spartans the advantage heading into the locker room after 20 minutes. Daniel Russell made it 2-0, but the Badger's Gavin Morrissey and Quinn Finley responded in the second, knotting the score at 2-2 heading into the third period.
Michigan State's Isaac Howard and Wisconsin's Ryland Mosley both scored in the third, but neither team could find the winning goal. But in overtime, Russell found the back of the net, lifting the Spartans over the Badgers.

Michigan State's Luca Di Pasquo stopped 31 of 34 shots in the win, and Wisconsin's Tommy Scarfone made 34 saves in the loss.
