La Liga champions Real Madrid have on Monday provided an update on the wellbeing of the club’s first-team squad.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops have of course been hit hard by injury problems over the early weeks of the season, with a whole host of key Blancos stars having been condemned to respective spells on the sidelines.

Ahead of their post-international break return to action against Celta Vigo this weekend, Real have on Monday therefore provided an update on three such players.

First, on star frontman Kylian Mbappé, who was forced to sit out France’s two Nations League fixtures this month:

‘Kylian Mbappé continues to work on his individual fitness plan. The forward is working on his own as he tries to recover fully from the discomfort in the biceps femoris of his left leg. This afternoon, he trained on his own in the gym and out on the pitch at Real Madrid City, under the guidance of Antonio Pintus, who is in charge of the club’s physical preparation.’

Attentions then turned towards goalkeeper pair Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin, sidelined of late owing to respective fitness and illness concerns:

‘Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin also trained under the watchful eye of goalkeeping coach Lluis Llopis. Courtois continues his recovery process following the injury he suffered on 29 September against Atlético de Madrid. Lunin has returned to work on the pitch after a bout of gastroenteritis.’
