Real Madrid tracking Premier League centre-back, could cost £70 million
Real Madrid had their sights firmly set on a move for Leny Yoro and for a long time it seemed like they would get their man only to see him opt for Manchester United earlier this week.
It has left the club in a difficult position considering that Nacho Fernandez and Rafa Marin are no longer at the club and David Alaba is still a few months away from recovering from his ACL injury.
With Jesus Vallejo not being counted on by the manager, there is a need for a new defender even though Aurelien Tchouameni can fill in as a makeshift.
Rumours suggested that Real Madrid are looking at a couple of players from the Bundesliga in Nico Schlotterbeck and Piero Hincapie.
Real Madrid monitoring Marc Guehi
Now, Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reports that Real Madrid have also been tracking Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi over the past year.
Guehi, 24, has grown into one of the most reliable centre-backs in the Premier League during his stint at Crystal Palace and excelled for England at the recently concluded UEFA Euro 2024.
A number of top clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus, and Bayern Munich have been keeping tabs on the former Chelsea star’s progress at Crystal Palace.
Newcastle United, who are on the lookout for another defender, are also looking at Guehi, along with Tottenham.
Guehi will cost £70 million
Guehi has a contract with Crystal Palace that runs until the summer of 2026. With two years left on his deal, the Eagles have the upper hand when it comes to negotiations.
As such, the report states that the Premier League could demand a fee of around £70 million if Real Madrid or any other club make an approach for him this summer.
Considering that the Spanish capital giants refused to spend big on Leny Yoro, who was their priority target, it seems unlikely that they would splash such a sum on the England international.
