Florian Wirtz is one of the hottest prospects in the transfer market right now, with many following his situation at Bayer Leverkusen quite closely.

Wirtz was linked with a move away from Leverkusen this summer, but he ended up opting for another year at the club. However, Wirtz appears destined to leave Bayer Leverkusen next summer, with Real Madrid among the clubs interested in his services.

Wirtz heaps praise on Lamine Yamal

But as Real Madrid continue to monitor Wirtz closely, the German, in a recent interview, has heaped praise on Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal.

Speaking to DAZN, Wirtz was recently asked about the greatest footballing talent in the world right now.

The German international did not hesitate to name Yamal, as the forward has been in splendid form since early summer.

Wirtz is not the only personality to praise Yamal highly in recent weeks. Former Real Madrid footballer Guti has labelled the Barcelona forward as the best player in Spain right now while Cristiano Ronaldo, too, has dubbed him a future Ballon d’Or candidate.

Wirtz names Lionel Messi as his childhood idol

Apart from his praise of Yamal, Florian Wirtz was also asked about his childhood idol.

To that end, the German international named former Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, who is currently plying his trade with Inter Miami in the US.

Wirtz is not the first player to have Messi as an idol, and he won’t be the last either, as the Argentine has built himself a lasting legacy in the history of football.

Real Madrid fans, though, won’t be too happy with Wirtz’s picks, though their club still remain one of the favourites to acquire the services of the German next summer.
