La Liga giants Real Madrid have today reached a definitive agreement on the sale of a member of the club’s defensive ranks.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Rafa Marín as the player in question.

The name of stopper Marín has of course long positioned itself centre stage in the headlines in Spain’s capital.

As much comes after word was forthcoming that the 22-year-old – fresh off an impressive loan stint with Deportivo Alavés – had emerged as a leading transfer target on the part of Serie A heavyweights Napoli.

Negotiations between the parties, in turn, had long been kicked into gear, with a view to a summer switch.

And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, an agreement on the terms of precisely as much has been found.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Rafa Marín to Napoli, here we go! Agreement in place with medical to follow before pre-season camp.’

The transfer will come in the form of a permanent one, albeit with Real Madrid maintaining control of Marín’s long-term future, courtesy of a buy-back clause in the agreement with their Napoli counterparts:
