A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has on Wednesday forwarded some advice the way of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal.

The player in question? Dani Carvajal.

Carvajal and Lamine, of course, are currently away on international duty together.

After lighting up the right flank alongside one another at Euro 2024, the pair have been called up to Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish squad once more, for upcoming Nations League meetings with Serbia and Switzerland.

Lamine and Caravajal, despite their 16-year age gap, developed a strong bond whilst at the Euros, with the latter already acting as something of an in-game mentor for his young teammate.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic on Wednesday, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of the Barcelona talent was put to Carvajal once more.

And, after first admitting that he has been left amazed by Lamine’s explosion at such a young age, the Real Madrid stopper also made sure to advise his compatriot not to get carried away with his situation:

“It seems incredible at Yamal’s age (he turned 17 in July) that he is already in the elite, at a club like Barcelona and with the national team. He has adapted very well to the group. He is still a kid (laughs), so you have to keep your feet on the ground — but he’s a great kid.”
