Real Madrid set to be dealt an incoming transfer blow
La Liga giants Real Madrid will imminently see their plans on the transfer front dealt something of a blow.
That’s according to German football insider Florian Plettenberg, who has on Monday provided a significant update on the future of one of the game’s standout young talents: Florian Wirtz.
Midfielder Wirtz has of course long stood as a man in demand across the continent.
Owing to his ongoing excellence with Germany and Bayer Leverkusen alike, the 21-year-old has been earmarked by the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and the aforementioned Real Madrid as a key target.
If any such club had hopes of striking a deal for Wirtz’s services in the near future, however, they may well need to revise their plans.
This comes amid confirmation that the youngster is inching towards signing a new contract at the BayArena.
As per a report from Florian Plettenberg:
‘The clear trend is that Florian Wirtz will extend his contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen until 2028. The next opportunity for a transfer would come after the 2026 World Cup.’
