Real Madrid Sensation, PSG Leaders’ Relationship Described as ‘Total War’ Last Season, Pundit Says

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain appear to have divorced in an ugly fashion behind the scenes. One pundit describes the situation as a ‘war’ between the player and capital club’s leaders this past 2023-24 season.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports PSG aren’t very active in the transfer market right now because they’re still working out a financial agreement for Mbappé’s departure.

Last month, a report revealed that Mbappé has demanded €100 million from PSG for unpaid bonuses and salaries, covering wages owed for April and May. PSG also seems hesitant to pay his June salary or a pending loyalty bonus.

Moreover, reports suggest that the Frenchman offered to waive €55 million in due bonuses, but this agreement was verbal and did not alter his contract. With reports leaking out to the media regarding the relationship between Mbappé and PSG, RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo commented on the divorce and what went on between the two sides.

“The way the Qataris manage clubs, part ways with people, what they think about what the support staff should be, Mbappé has entered into war,” Riolo said (h/t Le10Sport). “It was a total war with Nasser [Al-Khelaifi]. We must remember what the Qataris are, how they manage a club, how they part ways with people, and how they treat them. The chaos that resulted from all this did not help Mbappé throughout the year, but he is not without blame.

“The way these people manage others, human beings, and clubs is a disaster. Kylian Mbappé has been subjected to blackmail this year regarding excesses of his private life. Ultimately, I think the ultimate war waged between the two parties this year did not help Mbappé.”
