🇪🇸 Real Madrid require penalty luck to break down Real Sociedad

Real Madrid need some penalty luck to scrape by 2-0 in their trip to Real Sociedad on Saturday.

It was a frustrating night for the visitors, as the hosts proved formidable, but 18 chances combined flew in during the first 45 minutes of action.

Despite having only 37% possession, Real Sociedad made Real Madrid sweat with two shots off the woodwork, keeping Thibaut Courtois busy.

VAR said Jon Aramburu committed a foul on the Brazilian attacker, allowing the visitors to double their lead. Yet instead of securing a brace for himself, Vinicius handed the ball to Kylian Mbappé, who sent Remiro the wrong way this time.

The controversial result will be one Carlo Ancelotti is thankful for, but it’s a frustrating one for Imanol Alguacil. Looking at the table, Madrid are second one point behind Barcelona while Sociedad are 16th.
