Real Madrid have not received any approach from Chelsea for €25m-rated ace

Earlier today, reports emerged in Spain claiming that Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin was close to joining Chelsea this summer.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian shot-stopper is staring at an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu as he wants to play regularly which will not be possible at the club following Thibaut Courtois’ return from injury.

There has been significant interest from clubs in the Premier League, but it was suggested a move to Chelsea was edging close.

No approach from Chelsea

However, now, Fabrizio Romano has come forward with a report stating that Real Madrid have not received any sort of approach from Chelsea for Andriy Lunin.

Instead, the only topic discussed between the two clubs is the one related to Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is keen on a return to Real Madrid after spending the last season out on loan.

As for Lunin, another reliable source, Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, reports that Chelsea are indeed looking for a new goalkeeper this summer but the Real Madrid backup choice does not feature in their plans as he does not fit the profile they are seeking.

What next for Lunin?

As mentioned earlier, Lunin wants to stay at Real Madrid only if he gets regular minutes. But as was made clear towards the end of the last season, with Courtois returning, he is back to being the No. 2.

So, a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu appears very high likely in the coming days, although Chelsea might not be his next destination.

There is interest from other clubs like Arsenal as well, though, and it is not entirely ruled out that Lunin ends up in the Premier League.
