Real Madrid will negotiate with Bundesliga speedster if he does not renew by January
Alphonso Davies was Real Madrid’s third big signing planned for last summer after Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.
The Canadian international, however, eventually did not arrive as Bayern Munich refused to compromise on their asking price and Real Madrid stood firm on their valuation of the player.
Now in the final few months of his contract in Germany, the full-back is as close to leaving as a free agent as he has ever been and Florentino Perez and Co. have their eyes on his situation for next summer.
Date planned
With his deal running out in June 2025, Davies is permitted to negotiate a pre-agreement with other clubs after January and Real Madrid are looking towards the calendar with all their attention.
As revealed in a recent update by Fabrizio Romano, Los Blancos will advance in talks with Alphonso Davies if he doesn’t renew with Bayern Munich by January. From there, the negotiations will pick up speed.
“Real Madrid’s interest in Alphonso Davies remains strong. Davies is part of their list, but it will depend on contract talks between Bayern and Alphonso,” Romano told Caught Offside.
“If he doesn’t extend the contract by January, Real Madrid will try to advance in talks to reach an agreement and bring him to the club.
“They’re not in a rush now, also because Ferland Mendy just agreed on a new deal and so it’s something they’d only do at their conditions.”
Notably, however, Perez and Co. will not look to make any form of agreement public until the summer out of respect for the Bavarian club and to ensure good relations with the European giants.
Bayern Munich are still pressing to ensure Davies’ continuity and the team’s strong start to the season under Vincent Kompany only adds to their case.
The left-back, however, appears to have his mind fixated on a move to Real Madrid and is currently not entertaining any of Bayern’s approaches.
In fact, he spoke earlier today about his future where he refused to comment on renewal and also made a big emotional claim signalling that a departure may not be far away.
