Real Madrid midfielder an injury doubt to face RB Salzburg – report

Real Madrid will return to UEFA Champions League action on Wednesday night when they lock horns with RB Salzburg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having registered back-to-back wins after their Spanish Super Cup debacle, Los Blancos will be eager to register another victory and take a step towards securing a knockout playoff berth in Europe’s premier competition.

Aurelien Tchouameni a doubt for Salzburg clash

Real Madrid, however, could once again be without a player that manager Carlo Ancelotti trusts heavily in Aurelien Tchouameni.

Indeed, according to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, the French midfielder is a doubt to feature in the UEFA Champions League clash against Salzburg.

Tchouameni missed Sunday’s match against Las Palmas as he had to withdraw his name from the squad late on the matchday due to discomfort in his left leg.

The former AS Monaco did not train with the rest of the group today either and worked alone on the pitch.

As such, there is no certainty that he will recover in time for Wednesday’s clash against RB Salzburg.

Prior to the physical issue, the midfielder had come under intense criticism for some of his recent displays, although he did show signs of improvement in the cup tie against Celta Vigo.

Who else will be unavailable?

Real Madrid will also be without Tchouameni’s compatriot, Eduardo Camavinga, out with an injury while Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao are long-term absentees.

Lucas Vazquez will also miss out through suspension, leaving Ancelotti without a natural right-back in the squad for the game.

Los Blancos, however, will welcome Vinicius Jr. and Luka Modric back into the squad after the pair missed the weekend’s La Liga game against Las Palmas through suspension.
