Kylian Mbappe’s injury ahead of the critical game against Atletico Madrid has Carlo Ancelotti seriously contemplating a return to the 4-4-2 diamond system that gave the team success last season.

A big part of his plans, thus, revolves around the fitness and availability of Eduardo Camavinga who has been injured since before the UEFA Super Cup.

As revealed by Mundo Deportivo now, Camavinga will be ready and available to feature against Atletico Madrid after he participated with the group in today’s final training session before the game.

Set for a return

The Frenchman has been training individually for a long time now, and as of earlier this week, even completed two sessions with the group.

Last night, reports emerged claiming that the 21-year-old had passed all the necessary medical and fitness tests.

Having trained with the rest of the group fully today, Camavinga is thus back in Ancelotti’s plans ahead of a crucial game and is very close to making his debut for the season.

It must, however, be noted that the ex-Rennes wonderkid trained with a special protective bandage on his injured knee.

Despite him being out for over a month, it is not ruled out that the player even starts against Atletico Madrid for he has directly returned from injury with a start in the past as well.

The final decision, however, lies with Ancelotti who must not only consider the player’s value but also the stature of the opposition and whether it is advisable to directly throw Camavinga into the deep end.

Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde will undoubtedly start on the night, and the fourth place will be filled by either Camavinga or Luka Modric based on his fitness.

If not a start, the youngster will certainly see minutes off the bench and his importance in the team will only grow as the weeks pass.
