In a move that has stirred up the competition between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid’s youth teams, young forward Yeremaiah Ramos has decided to leave the Colchoneros to join La Fabrica.

This switch, as reported by Diario AS, is part of Real Madrid’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their youth squad and counter Atletico’s dominance in the youth division.

It is said that Real Madrid are pushing forward with its Valdebebas project, which involves recruiting talented players, including those from rival clubs like Atletico Madrid.

One of the notable signings is Ramos, a standout striker from Atletico’s youth team. Ramos, who played a key role in Atletico’s 2009 generation, scored an impressive 33 goals last season.

Atletico is a hunting ground for Real Madrid

Interestingly, this is the third consecutive summer that Real Madrid have targeted Atletico’s talent pool. It all started in 2022 with the signing of Jesus Fortea, breaking a long-standing non-aggression pact between the clubs. Last year, they continued this trend by bringing in Ariel Nkoghe.

Ramos, or “Yere” as he is known, shares a similar background with Nkoghe. Although born in Guadalajara, Spain, Ramos has roots in Equatorial Guinea and is the nephew of Pedro Obiang, a midfielder for Sassuolo who also played for Atletico in his youth.

Real Madrid’s aggressive recruitment is just the beginning, as they have already secured the signings of at least two more players from Atletico’s 7-a-side football teams for the 2023-24 season.

Additionally, Sergio Mestre, a goalkeeper from Atletico Madrid B, has also been recruited, albeit with limited playing time, to join Real Madrid C.

Ramos has played with Real Madrid youngsters

Ramos’ excellent performance throughout the season earned him a spot on Spain’s national U15 team in May. During this call-up, he played alongside several future Real Madrid teammates.

Among these players are Jairo Morilla and Santiago del Pino, both of whom are set to join Real Madrid’s youth academy.

This strategic manoeuvre by Real Madrid is seen as a significant step in bolstering their youth ranks and challenging Atletico’s recent success.

By bringing in top talents like Ramos and others, Real Madrid aims to build a formidable youth team that can compete at the highest levels.

The rivalry between the two clubs is set to intensify further as both continue to vie for supremacy in nurturing the next generation of football stars.
