Real Madrid loanee suffers after untimely injury setback – ‘I’m just upset because…’
Reinier Jesus signed for Real Madrid in 2020 for a fee of €30 million but never made it as a regular in the first team.
With the manager not preferring his services, he spent the better part of his contract with Real Madrid out on loan and the same transpired last summer when Los Blancos loaned him to Granada for the season.
After several unsuccessful loan spells, the player was finally beginning to look like the version Real Madrid signed up for and was a spark in the La Liga 2 side. However, that has now come to a screeching halt.
An unfortunate injury
As relayed by AS in a recent update, Reinier was forced to leave the field during Granada’s clash against Sporting Gijon just when it appeared that he was hitting his best form.
The player is now ruled out for two weeks at least after the club confirmed that he suffered an injury to his right hamstring.
Speaking to the media after his injury, the player expressed his disappointment over the development and spoke about his recent run of positive form.
“I’m just upset because I left the field injured. I had a small muscle injury, but I am already starting treatment to be able to play again as soon as possible.”
“[I want to] help Granada in its great goal of returning to the elite of Spanish football,” he added.
The player was having a good game against Sporting and even racked up an assist on the night, speaking about which he said,
“I’m happy to have given one more assist and contributed to the team winning again, which was the most important thing.”
So far this season, Reinier has racked up one goal and four assists in 20 league appearances. He had two assists in as many games before his injury.
