Leny Yoro’s recent decision to choose Manchester United over Real Madrid has significantly influenced the plans of the Spanish giants.

Now, with Yoro out of sight, Real Madrid are now exploring different options for their defence and One intriguing possibility is converting Aurelien Tchouameni into a full-time centre-back, a role he dabbled in extensively last season, claims Mundo Deportivo.

As Yoro transitions to Manchester United, Real Madrid are considering multiple alternatives to bolster their defence. The latest candidate to emerge is Aymeric Laporte.

Currently playing for Al Nassr, he has just concluded an impressive Euro Cup with the Spanish national team.

His wealth of experience at the highest levels with both Manchester City and the Spanish national team, combined with his exceptional ball-handling skills, make him a valuable asset.

There’s someone within the team

Another viable option for Real Madrid is to continue utilizing Tchouameni in a versatile defensive role.

Last season, due to long-term injuries to key defenders like David Alaba and Eder Militao, and occasional absences of Nacho and Antonio Rudiger, Tchouameni became Carlo Ancelotti’s go-to emergency solution.

Despite dealing with two stress fractures, Tchouameni managed to play 38 games, including 10 as a centre-back.

His performance in high-stakes matches, such as El Clasico, the game against Girona, and the first leg of the quarter-final against Manchester City, highlighted his adaptability and skill.

Tchouameni will be ready to take the hit

Although Tchouameni has often stated that his preferred position is as a pivot, he has also expressed his willingness to play as a centre-back if required by the team or the coach.

Ancelotti has publicly acknowledged his potential to excel in this role, noting that the Frenchman could have a long and successful career at Real Madrid, whether as a pivot or a centre-back.

If Real Madrid decides against pursuing a specialist centre-back in the transfer market, Tchouameni is likely to continue as Ancelotti’s emergency centre-back this season.
