Jesus Vallejo joined Real Madrid in 2015 from Real Zaragoza but never really got going in the Spanish capital.

Over the following years, he had loan stints at Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton, and Granada, and he was on loan with the La Liga side even last season.

Close to ten years after his arrival at the club, it is clear that Los Blancos will not pursue a renewal. One year remains on Vallejo’s contract, but as revealed earlier this week, the player wishes to stay in Madrid.

Real Madrid will not force Vallejo out

As relayed by The Athletic in a recent update, Vallejo has made it clear to the Real Madrid management that he intends to stay at the club for the final year of his contract.

He is aware that he will not have a regular role under Carlo Ancelotti but wishes to stay with the dressing room and the team for the upcoming season.

Real Madrid, for their part, will not force Vallejo to leave out of respect for the player who has been at the club since 2015.

A Possible Opening

A centre-back by trade, Vallejo has not enjoyed many chances to establish himself at the club over the years.

After all, Los Blancos are well-stocked with world-class players in that department year after year.

With the team’s top transfer target Leny Yoro now moving closer to Manchester United, David Alaba still injured, and Nacho Fernandez no longer at the club, there is a chance Vallejo could find minutes at Real Madrid.

Yet again, there is always the possibility that Ancelotti opts for the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni and Ferland Mendy at centre-back ahead of the Spaniard. Only time will tell.
