La Liga giants Real Madrid have turned their focus towards one league in particular, amid their search for potential defensive reinforcements.

As much, of course, comes fresh off Real missing out on their first-choice target to add to the club’s backline.

After captain Nacho came to the decision not to renew his contract, Los Blancos set their sights on Lille sensation Leny Yoro as the perfect replacement.

The French sensation, however, this week opted to take his talents to England, to link up with Manchester United.

This has left Real Madrid with something of a dilemma, with many sources having already suggested that Florentino Pérez and co. are ready to head into the new season with the current crop of central defenders at the disposal of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The truth of the matter, though, is that the Spanish champions, as always, will continue to do their due diligence, in scouring the market for potential opportunities.

And, amid such efforts, one division in particular is expected to be focused on most intently.

As per a report from The Athletic:

‘Although the French centre-back is the only defender Madrid had made a move for, the club has alternatives in its sights. Voices with knowledge of Real Madrid’s scouting speak of Serie A as a possible source to bring in a centre-back.’
