Real Madrid defensive target will cost €15 million in January – report
Following the season-ending ACL injury to Eder Militao, Real Madrid are looking for reinforcements in the centre-back position for January.
The names of Aymeric Laporte and Castello Lukeba have been linked heavily, while Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen is another player that interests the Merengues.
In fact, reports earlier this week confirmed that the interest in Tah is concrete and a January move is very much possible, considering that he could be available for a reasonable fee with his contract expiring in 2025.
Tah to cost €15 million in January
Building on that, BILD (via SPORT) reports that a move for Tah in the January transfer window would cost Real Madrid a transfer fee of around €15 million.
Indeed, the report argues that an exit from Bayer Leverkusen midway through the season would be ‘almost impossible’ unless the German champions are presented with an offer that they consider acceptable.
And the figure that they would be willing to accept to offload the 28-year-old centre-back is €15 million.
Now, whether Real Madrid would be willing to spend so much on a player who would be available for free in six months is the big question.
Los Blancos have been reluctant to enter the market in the January window and with big plans for the summer of 2025, they would be looking for cost-effective solutions in the winter to address their problems in the defensive unit.
So, only time will tell if Real Madrid move for Tah, who also happens to be a target for Bayern Munich and Barcelona, in the winter or decide to wait until his contract expires.
